“친환경 신소재 발굴 활발”
일라, 실리콘 원단 ‘실리젠’ 선보여

산업계 또한 무독성인 실리콘 등 다양한 소재를 이용한 친환경 신소재 개발을 위한 노력에 박차를 가하고 있다.

실리콘의 경우 유아젖병, 식기, 조리도구, 의료용품 등에 사용되고, 인체에 무해할 정도로 안전한 소재다. 이 가운데 원단 전문 회사 일라(ILLA)가 친환경 실리콘 원단 ‘실리젠’(SILIZEN)을 선보여 업계 눈길을 끌고 있다.

실리젠은 표면처리를 함으로써 실리콘 특유의 촉감(끈적거림)을 개선한 제품이다. 실리젠은 오염에 강해 물만으로도 생활 오염을 제거할 수 있는 이지클린 기능을 갖추고 있으며, 난연성이 있어 쉽게 불이 붙지 않아 안전하다는 특징을 지닌다. 또 마모강도는 마틴데일 마모강도 테스트로 관리하고 있고, 반려동물의 스크레치나 생활스크레치에 강하다.

손톱으로 긁었을 경우 부스러짐 현상이 거의 없고, 타 생산 제품보다 부드러워 봉제 가공에 유리하다. 이외에도 친환경 원단으로 공급자 적합성 인증받아 가구, 의류, 매트, 악세서리 뿐 아니라 의료 및 유아용 제품에 이르기까지 매우 광범위한 용도로 활용될 수 있다. 일라 관계자는 “실리젠은 자연으로부터 채취한 소재로 만들어진 친환경 실리콘 가죽 원단”이라면서 “색상도 30가지로 다양해 용도에 맞는 알맞은 선택이 가능하다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “언제나 트렌드와 환경을 생각하며, 모두를 위해 안전한 소재를 개발하도록 노력하겠다”고 덧붙였다. 한편 일라는 섬유 인증인 오코텍스 (OEKO-TEX)와 리사이클 인증인 GRS (Global Recycled Standard)를 받은 업체로 소파, 체어, 파티션, 인테리어 등에 사용되는 원단을 개발·생산하는 업체다.
